In 1626, by order of Louis XIII, the Royal Garden of Medicinal Plants was created, which became the National Museum of Natural History in 1793. For nearly 400 years, at the crossroads of Earth, Life and Man, the Museum devotes itself daily to nature and its relationship with the human species.
This book pays homage to this institution, and above all to the treasures kept there: stones from the Mineralogy gallery, diplodocus and fossils from the Paleontology gallery, birds, butterflies and African caravan from the Grand Gallery of Evolution and plates of the National Herbarium.
All the drawings come from the collection of vellums of the Museum, each part is accompanied on a double-page by documentary texts. Once again, all the talent of Dominique Ehrhard is expressed in this book. Both poetic and educational, Muséum Pop up illustrates the richness of these collections, the importance of scientific research, and all the beauty of the world around us.
